The Best Movie Snack!

So…I started Glee at the beginning of this week and I’m already on season 2. I love watching movies and television. Especially on Netflix where you can binge-watch to your heart’s content! I took a poll around my apartment to see what everyone enjoys to watch and the results were:

Jovial – Quantico, The Tomorrow People, The 100

Lydia – Ballet Documentaries

Toni – The Flash, Green Arrow, Scandal

Lily – Anything and everything!

However, one issue came up. We love to watch these shows but we always want something to eat while watching our shows. We make these meals and tell ourselves that we will eat while watching tv but we are finished with our food by the time the opening theme has finished. I have a solution. A healthy, fun, and tasty vegan snack that everyone will enjoy!

What you will need:

Popcorn

  • 1 Medium Pan
  • 1 Big Bowl
  • ~2 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels

Place the pan on the stove and turn it up to medium heat. Melt ~2tbsp of coconut oil in the microwave. This should only take about thirty seconds. Pour the oil (the oil should cover the bottom of the pan, if it does not, add more!) and drop three kernels into the pot. Cover the pot and wait. When one kernel pops, pour the rest of the kernels into the pot and cover. Now get ready for an arm workout! Begin shaking the pot while the kernels are popping. Don’t stop or else they’ll burn! This should only take about 2 minutes. When the pops slow down to just one or two pops at a time. Pull the pot off the heat and pour the popcorn into the bowl. Voila! Yummy popcorn ready to eat! I don’t add and seasonings but feel free to add salt and butter. I reccomend using sea salt and Earth Balance Original Butter as a vegan alternative to normal butter.

Smoothie

  • A Blender (duh)
  • Kale (I use frozen kale)
  • Frozen Bananas
  • Frozen Mixed Berries
  • Water
  • Spirulina (optional)
  • Acai Powder (optional)

Layer into the blender a handful of kale, 2-f frozen bananas, and a handful of frozen mixed berries. Then add 1 heaping spoonful of spirulina and acai powder each. Pour about 1 cup of water into the blender and blend! Add water as you go until you reach your desired consistency. Taste t and if it’s a bit too “bitter” you can add more bananas or a dash of agave nectar. Pour into a glass and you’re done!

Now you have a movie snack that will last you all throughout the show. Enjoy!
